About the Author

Ina Moody

Ina Moody is married, retired and lives in Central Florida where she has taught yoga, lectured and written about stress management for 20+ years.

No stranger to stress herself, Ina grew up in a country torn by war. Her early childhood memories laid the foundation for a life-long battle with stress-induced depression.

Ina arrived in the United States as a young woman. Being a single mom in a foreign country, with two children to support was no cake-walk either. During the early years, she sometimes held down three jobs just to pay the rent and keep food on the table. It was during this period that she turned to yoga in an effort to learn to cope with stress.

Her first teacher was Rammurti Mishra, MD, author of A Textbook in Yoga Psychology. Studying Raja Yoga under Dr. Mishra taught Ina to detach her ego from the stressors in her life. This technique became a major component in her successful conquest of the stress that had dominated her life up until that time.

After going through a Teachers Certification Program at the Yoga Institute in Miami, Ina became a Yoga instructor, first part-time at the local YMCA, and later full-time in her own studio in Lakeland, Florida, where she taught Iyengar and Kripula Yoga.

She is a past member of Pamarahansa Yogananda's Self Realization Fellowship; Past member of California Yoga Teachers Association and presently a member of Florida Sun Coast Yoga Teachers Association.

In 1995, Ina received international recognition with her book “Yoga-Anti Stress” published by MARABOUT in France. In a later fictional book, Sages and Sinners, she depicts how to integrate the stress relieving practice of Yoga with Western-style living. Sages and Sinners is available in book stores or on www.Amazon.com.

After retirement in 2002, Ina returned to school for a degree in Psychology. Here she was introduced to Quantum Physics, a relatively new science which supports many of the concepts of the ancient Yoga traditions, such as altered states of consciousness, out-of-body experiences, etc. She also learned about Elizabeth Kubler-Ross' work involving the stress of dying. Reading Ms. Kubler-Ross' book, On Death and Dying, and learning her theories, seemed a fitting rounding out of Ina's own life-long study of the stress of living.

The inspiration for this website, www.StressRelief-Tips.org, came when Ina prepared her talks to promote her book Sages and Sinners. Working up a profile for an "Author's Bio" she realized the vast experience she has in the field of stress management. Wanting to share her own hard-won knowledge she decided to put it on the internet.

Ina invites you to share your stories and your stress management tips with her on this website. Please e-mail her a her website www.yogina.org. Remember:

Life is to be enjoyed, not endured.
